We recommend hanging our Garden and Craft gates using heavy duty “strap” hinges as illustrated above.  The strap hinge mounts to either the face or back of the gate and attaches to the post.  We do not recommend butt hinges (the type you use on the doors of your home).  There are a variety of strap hinges commercially available.  We manufacture our own heavy duty ball bearing strap hinges as shown above.  This hinge is available in two sizes depending on the weight of your gate.  There are also other options available and we have several manufacturers listed on our links page.
